Cross Pollinator – May 14, 2022

The Cross-Pollinator is always our chance to do things a little different, and that will certainly be true this year as well! 

The 2022 Cross Pollinator will be for teams of 3 athletes where each athlete should represent a unique level in their fitness capabilities. For example, if athlete #1 is the reigning record holder in the gym they would want to find another partner who is more of an experienced athlete but maybe not as advanced, and then their third athlete would want to be someone who is still developing their game. Call it a Black, a Blue and a Green level athlete, if you will. We will be publishing the general standards we would want teams to use as they form their rosters with target weights for various lifts and skill levels for gymnastics movements.
Our hope is that the “Cross Pollination” comes in the form of experienced athletes supporting those that have less experience, or possibly limitations based on age or other factors. And we’d still love to see individuals from different gyms forming teams – we’re just not mandating it this year. We also hope that individuals who have an expertise in an area of fitness (strength, conditioning, skill, etc.) can contribute their skills as an athlete vs. having to fit into a specific level or gender.

How to build your Cross Pollinator team:

Each team should contain one athlete from each category. Athlete categories may change over the course of the competition based upon the given workouts (for example: if your otherwise “blue square” athlete is an absolute beast at double-unders and your otherwise “black diamond” athlete is weaker in that area).

**In order to qualify for a specific category an athlete must find most movements doable but possibly challenging**

  • 10 Push-ups

Green Circle Athlete
