Are you dreaming of swimming this winter? Are you wanting to learn a bit more about swim techniques so you can swim like a fish/shark/narwhal and get a bit of swim practice in before the ponds thaw?
Green Mountain Community FItness is offering OUTSWIM on March 16! This is a 2 hour Freestyle Swim Clinic for queer folks to work on the technique of the Freestyle stroke. The clinic features tons of stroke technique and tips. This is NOT a workout class, but an opportunity to work on your swim stroke in a small group of queer folks with some direct and immediate feedback from professional coaches!
Here are some additional things to note.
- This is not a learn to swim class. So you do need to be able to swim a bit to join. The ask is that registrants can swim 25 yards (that’s down one length of the pool the GMCF pool) without stopping. But you can go as fast or as slow as you need. And you obviously don’t have to be a great swimmer. That’s what the class is for!
- Sara Kruger, the creator of OutFIT, will be one of the coaches for this clinic. The other coaches are supportive and excited about this offering, but do not identify as queer. They are each decorated swimmers and experienced coaches, and are excited to offer OutSWIM for queer swimmers and to make the GMCF pool a welcoming and safe environment for our community. Please know that we truly understand how vulnerable it can be to join this class and we are committed to OutSWIM being a safe and fun experience for all queer swimmers. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
- If you are super into the class, but the cost is prohibitive, please also reach out to Sara or to Steve so we can help you with tuition assistance.
