The VT MLP Series is a three-event team competition consisting of 3 divisions with 4 teams in each division, spread across 3 weeks.
The Format:
This series will use the MLP format of 4 person teams, consisting of 2 women and 2 men, playing a round robin against 3 other teams within a 3 hour time frame. Each match will consist of 2 games of gender doubles, 2 games of mixed doubles, and 1 game of mixed singles. Games will use rally scoring, and the gender and mixed matches will happen simultaneously so there is very little sitting.
The Levels:
The series will have 3 levels of participants, the Foundation Level (approx. 3.5 to 4.25 DUPR Rating), the Challenger Level (approx. 4.0 to 4.75 DUPR Rating) and the Premier Level (approx. 4.5 to 5.25 DUPR Rating).
The Schedule:
- Foundation Teams will play on Thursday, March 6th from 5:30 to 8:30
- Challenger Teams will play on Thursday, March 13th from 5:30 to 8:30
- Premier Teams will play on Thursday, March 20th from 5:30 to 8:30
The Draft:
An exciting aspect of this event is that the week prior to your division there will be a draft process. Four individuals, chosen by the Tournament Director, will serve as team captains and choose their teams in rounds from the remaining 12 players in each division. Once the draft is complete the team rosters will be announced and we’ll be ready to play!
Registration:
We are open for registrations now! You will register as an individual, choosing your level and gender in the process. If you have questions about what level to choose you can contact [email protected] for guidance. Cost for one evening of competition is $30. If you are a GMCF member, the easiest way to register for an event is to use the GMCF app and look in the Programs section under Pickleball. If you are a non-member you can call our front desk (802-223-6161) to register and pay – please let our staff know that it is a VT MLP event, and what Level (Foundation, Challenger or Premier) and Gender you are registering for.
