Looking at the progress that has been made in our Aquatics renovations project, it’s hard to believe it’s only been a week! In that time, we have made some major leaps forward thanks to our hardworking staff and outside crews. Below are a few glimpses of the continuing work in progress. The most dramatic change can be seen in the walls surrounding the hot tub, where the lower RecDeck surface has been installed, and the upper area has been beautifully tiled below the new, elevated ceiling complete with recessed LED lighting. A new half-wall completes the look, opening up the space considerably and featuring a slab of local Barre Grey granite on the sill.
Nearby, the shower has undergone a similar makeover, receiving a tiled surround, an added overhead light and an overall expansion.
The walls of the pool room continue to march toward completion, featuring a three-tiered pattern of colored concrete boards. The contrast with the pool liner is beginning to become strikingly apparent as that piece of the pool itself has started to go in. We now have our new black targets in place as well, providing an enticing preview of what the finished look will be!
The deck bathroom finish has progressed, with the sheetrock being completed and protective FRP panels installed on the lower half of the walls. The floor in there is ready to receive its new look in the coming days.
Finally, we have started reconfiguring the pool entranceway, by cutting a new doorway to prepare for an entirely new enclosed space just outside the access door.
We have understandably received a number of questions about timeline: as of now, we do not have a set reopening date. It’s just too early to tell how much longer it will take. Some things have moved much quicker than we thought, while others are taking longer. We have identified and addressed some of the unknowns; this information has our expectations on a finish time likely being somewhat longer than our original best case scenario of 7 weeks. However, there are still the unknowns which could swing the project either direction. The bottom line is that we want to make sure our investment is properly presented to our community! We are working diligently to produce the best possible product for our membership for decades to come. Thank you for your patience and we are super excited to unveil this next chapter for our Aquatics area.
