Happy New Year! Let’s Rise, Shine and Thrive in 2025.
|
This is our year to shine brighter than ever, together! 2025 marks another opportunity for us to carry out our mission to be a center for fitness in Central Vermont and to strengthen the health and well-being of our community.
Every year we set our goals for making a positive impact on the physical spaces surrounding the main fitness area. In 2023, we finished up a gorgeous space we call the Earth Studio, which is now home to our Pilates, Yoga and various functional fitness classes. In 2024, we made some major waves inside our aquatics area with a full-scale renovation. We also continued the expansion of our single occupancy changing areas throughout the building. And now, hold on to your paddles – 2025 is about to serve up some exciting pickleball renovations that will significantly enhance the playing experience. Not only do our plans include attention to our indoor court space, but outdoor court construction is on the schedule, in conjunction with expanded parking!
Speaking of upgrades, we’re starting to plan for a phased retirement plan for our well-loved fitness equipment in the open gym space. In March, Cady will be packing her bags and heading to a national Health and Fitness conference and trade show to explore the latest equipment, with the intention of modernizing our entire workout area. As we move down this road, we will invite you to join in the process as much as possible, so stay tuned to learn about ways you can get involved.
Now when it comes to first impressions, we are fully aware that our building might not wow you from the outside (yet). However, we hope it’s the experience that awaits you inside that truly defines us. We believe in progress, not perfection, and that’s playing out as we work hard to transform our 50 year old property into the world-class facility you all deserve. It’s all about the journey, the laughs, the moments, the process. It happens with the small steps we take each day together that lead us to greater health and wellness.
Thank you for being part of our community, and here’s to a year filled with growth and achievement together. Let’s continue to be Everyday Stronger!

Adult Learn to Swim Program at GMCF
|
It’s never too late to learn.
|
More than a third of adults in the United States can’t swim the length of a pool, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which puts them at risk of being one of the 10 people who drown every day in this country.
Seeking to help make adults safer around water, GMCF now offers Learn to Swim lessons for those adults who have little to no prior swimming experience and want to learn the basics of swimming! GMCF’s Adult Learn to Swim (ALTS) program is led by an instructor who is certified by US Masters Swimming and is experienced in helping new adult swimmers become comfortable in the water!

interview Vermont Edition
|
This feels like a must share!
GMCF member and local registered dietitian, Britt Richardson shares the microphone on a January episode of Vermont Edition titled, ‘In Good Health: Health at every size’ and it’s one to listen to.
For decades now, diet culture has sabotaged our capacity to be self-aware, skewed our sense of normal, and vastly misguided our comprehension of health. Perpetuating the lies continues the cycle that’s stealing more than our money. It keeps you believing that you have failed when the diet stops working or when you gain weight back. You keep hoping the next diet/plan/cleanse/reset/powder/pill/surgery will be the one that works for good. Then it doesn’t, leaving you searching for the next plan.
Britt is one of many, committed to stopping this cycle and helping individuals find true satisfaction and wellness through education, science-based advice and a strategy called Intuitive Eating.
