GMCF recently held a training certification course for new Water Safety Instructors through the American Red Cross. Our candidates studied online content and met in person, both in the classroom and in the pool, to learn, practice and collaborate on becoming Vermont’s newest swim lesson instructors! The course, led by GMCF Aquatics Director Steve Maas (a certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer) covered all aspects of the American Red Cross Water Safety instruction program, from teaching techniques to water safety skills, administration to teaching those who move and learn differently. Candidates even got the chance to try out the “cup on the forehead” challenge!
