Dearest Sweat-Heart Competitors, Judges and Event Staff,
It’s been almost 48 hours… and athletes, we’re really hoping you’ve all made it past the peak of your soreness.
Because, wow! What a weekend!!
Two days ago, we wrapped up the 2026 Sweat-Heart Throwdown, and with it, sixteen years of state-wide Functional Fitness competitions at GMCF.
What a way to close this chapter.
It was a massive, squat-intensive, grit-filled, heart-pounding kind of weekend. The energy in the room was overwhelmingly FUN! The camaraderie was real. The support for every single athlete, from first-time competitors to those who have been throwing down with us for more than a decade, was exactly what has always made these events special.
You could feel it everywhere! I wish we could bottle it up!!
On the competition floor, athletes digging deep and cheering just as hard for the team next to them.
In the judging, holding movement standards high, with integrity and care.
Behind the scenes, staff and volunteers moving equipment, resolving issues, running heats, solving last-minute puzzles, and somehow still finding time to encourage and celebrate the athletes in front of them.
It was everything we hoped it would be, and more!
Since 2011, these competitions were never about prize money or profit. They were about community. About celebrating growth. About giving our local athletes a stage to test themselves, to surprise themselves, and to become stronger in all the ways, together.
This final Sweat-Heart Throwdown felt like a perfect reflection of all of it.
To our long-time competitors: thank you for growing up with us in this space. For trusting us with testing your training year after year. For pushing yourselves and raising the bar for everyone around you.
To our first-timers: thank you for being brave enough to step onto that floor. There is nothing like that first competition experience, and we are honored it happened here.
To our judges: thank you for your focus, your fairness, and your commitment to quality movement – especially, when your friends were the ones under the barbell.
To our staff and volunteers: there simply are not enough words. The sweat, the stress, the logistics, the setup, the teardown, the cookie baking, the apron folding, the hype-building, all of it. You made magic happen, one last time.
We will miss conjuring up crazy workouts.
We will miss pre-event set up nights and fluctuating heat sheets.
We will miss the nervous buzz before the first “3…2…1…Go.”
And yes, you better believe I will absolutely miss crafting those podium awards.
But here’s what we want to be clear about:
We are not done bringing people together.
If anything, this weekend reminded us how powerful that essence is. The shared challenge, the support, the laughter, the collective pride. That spirit isn’t going anywhere.
We simply get to evolve.
We’re committed to growing with the needs and desires of our athletes and community members. We are just as excited to explore new ways to gather, to compete, to challenge ourselves, and to celebrate one another. Whether that’s through pickleball tournaments, outdoor adventure events, swim challenges, or things we haven’t even dreamed up yet, our intention remains the same:
To create experiences that bring us together and help us become stronger, together.
One small request as we hold onto this weekend: if you took any photos during the event, we’d love for you to share them! You can add them directly to the Evite link you received prior to the competition so everyone can enjoy the memories.
And don’t worry, we also had a professional photographer, Oliver Ames, capturing the action. We’ll be sending a follow-up email with those photos in the next little bit, and we hope you’ll love reliving the weekend through them.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for competing, judging, and cheering.
Thank you for growing with us and helping shape 16 years of something special.
We closed this chapter exactly how it deserved to be closed, together.
With full hearts
,
Cady & the entire GMCF Team
Everyday Stronger
