Early Season ENDURANCE Team Success

The GMCF ENDURANCE Team continues to find success and, more importantly, fun in its Spring adventures as Team members test their fitness and see what they can do at events around the region!

Teammates Stephen Brown, Hannah Brown and Coach Steve Maas recently rode Richard’s Ride, a charity fundraiser ride that covers 71 miles of beautiful roads starting from Richmond, Vermont. It was a great day out on the bike!

Teammates Stephen Brown, Hannah Brown, Christopher McWilliams, Esther Erbe, Cristine Maloney and Coach Steve Maas traveled north to Derby recently to test their legs at the Dandelion Run, a popular event in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. They were joined by GMCF Coaches Harlow Carpenter and Dana McCarthy.

Tackling a variety of events, the group had a blast on a beautiful day and came home with multiple podium finishes:

Steve won the 10k, as first place male and 3rd place overall. Despite being waylaid slightly by poor course marking, Esther still managed to take home a medal as the 3rd overall female in the 10k. Harlow and Dana both took home 3rd place medals for their performances on the bike. Stephen led the race in the half-marathon distance, but confusing course marking struck down his day as well; he ended up turning his day into a 16-mile fun run! Hannah ran 13.1 successfully and set a blistering personal record in the process.

Nick Young was on course the next day at a rainy Vermont City Marathon, tackling the 13.1 half-marathon relay distance. He had a hugely successful day representing the Team in Burlington!

Congratulations to all Team members!
