The weather is starting to turn, the green things are appearing, and GMCF athletes are already out there putting their strength, speed and skills to the test — to fantastic results!
On Saturday, April 18th, athlete Dawn Anderson competed in the Vermont Senior Games Powerlifting Championships at Lift, VT in Williston, Vermont. Having never competed in a powerlifting competition—and admittedly uncertain that she could even perform the movements correctly—Dawn set her sights on the Vermont Senior Games back in November of 2025. Throughout the last five months, Dawn pushed herself to build strength and confidence in these movements and showed up strong on competition day. There, she squatted, benched, and deadlifted a combined total of over 335 lbs, setting personal records in both the squat and deadlift. Way to go, Dawn—keep up the fantastic work!
Also competing was athlete Maggie Desch, who, like Dawn, was new to the sport of powerlifting. Drawing on years of dedicated CrossFit training, Maggie stepped onto the platform well-prepared and ready to lift. Her strength and experience carried over seamlessly into this new platform, setting her up for success at the Vermont Senior Games. Incredible work, Maggie—we’re excited to see what’s next!

Spring is off to a great start for the GMCF ENDURANCE Team as well! Hannah and Stephen Brown had a great time at the Paul Mailman 10 miler in Montpelier! Congrats to Hannah on setting a 10 mile PR by over 10 minutes! Stephen was within about 30 seconds of a PR of his own.
Team member Jeff Soucy competed at the Tough Ruck 26.2 on Patriots Day, completing a full marathon with more than 28 pounds on his back, in military uniform! Not only was his finish time of 5:05 speedy enough to land him in 24th place overall (with more than 1,000 registrants for the day) and to earn an official Boston Marathon finisher’s medal, but he also raised more than $2,500 in charitable donations to honor fallen first responders and military veterans. Incredible work, Jeff!

GMCF strength coach and ENDURANCE Team member Hendrik Reinold toed the line at the Unplugged Half-Marathon in Burlington, and laid down a blistering finish time of 1:33:39, landing him in 69th place overall out of more than 1,000 competitors. Congratulations Hendrik!

Stepping into his coaching role, Hendrik also accompanied GMCF trainer Casey Moulton and several of their athletes to The Iron Mudder USPA Powerlifting meet in Morrisville, Vermont. It was incredible day for GMCF athletes, setting many new records and hitting new PRs across the board. Sarah Beebe hit a bench PR she’s been chasing for four years and a lifetime deadlift PR. Pam Hull won Best Lifter (an award based on an age/bodyweight/weight lifted coefficient). Drew Watson had the heaviest squat of the day across everyone at the meet. Allison Jacob PR’d all three lifts and got 27 of 27 white lights on the day. Casey set the state bench record and athlete Sheila Bailey extended her own squat state record.
