The Drop – GMCF Pickleball News · October 2026

And now the news!

The last newsletter was all about software (boring!), so this month we get to talk about all the opportunities for play, education and competition! Read on to see all the stuff going on this fall at GMCF…

Skills & Drills and LiveBall return

We are back in session with our regular weekly pickleball classes:

SKILLS & DRILLS – Tuesdays at 10:15 is our 2.8 to 3.3 session and Thursdays at the same time is for 3.3+ players. These one-hour classes work on different skills each week and provide coaching instruction and lots of drilling time.

LIVEBALL – Tuesdays at 11:30 following Skills and Drills is also for 2.8 to 3.3 players, and 11:30 Thursday at 11:30 supports our 3.3+ players. This fast paced class allows lots of game-scenario practice with the most important aspects of pickleball – drops, drive & drops, resets and kitchen play.

Registration for all classes is through the Club Automation app, Member Portal or at the front desk and requires either a Summit membership, a $10 non-summit member drop-in fee, or a $25 day pass + class fee for non-members.

If you love pickleball, want to get better at it, and find it hard to create your own structured drill sessions with your peers, these are your tickets to improvement!

 Beginner + Coach and 2.3 to 2.8 + Coach

If you are early on in your pickleball journey we have a couple of great opportunities to learn the ropes and have fun doing so!

BEGINNER + COACH – This two-hour Open Play format includes your very own GMCF coach for the first hour to help you grow your game and feel comfortable on the court. Then play it out with other beginner-level players for another hour and you’re guaranteed to acquire more confidence for joining our regular Open Play schedule. These happen on Mondays at 10:15 and Saturdays at 12:30.

2.3 to 2.8 + Coach – Once you get a feel for the game and learn all the rules in the Beginner + Coach, jump into this Thursday 10:15 game where you have Open Play games happening with a GMCF coach present for an hour helping everyone with their game strategy, shot selection and tactics.

FREE! – The best part about these two formats is that you get to hang with our coaches at no cost. Just sign up on PB360 and be ready to learn the game and have a blast.

3.0 to 3.5 Five Week League

Starting on Wednesday, October 21st we have another GMCF League launching for 5 weeks, from 4:30 to 7 pm. If you’d like to engage in some extra competition each week, with structured play (and tasty treats) you can learn more and register here:

Coach to the pros, Juan Benitez, at GMCF

Last spring we had the good fortune of hosting Juan Benitez, coach to pro players Hayden Patriquin and Anna Bright, on the GMCF courts and he is coming back for another round of lessons for those interested. On Thursday, October 22nd Juan is booking sessions all day and if we fill his schedule he will open up his Wednesday as well. This is a rare opportunity to spend an hour with someone who has lived and breathed racquet/paddle sports for his entire life, and benefit from his eagle-eye for technique correction and tactical decision-making. If you are interested in possibly booking a private ($180), semi-private ($200), 3-Person ($220) or 4-person ($240) session with Juan, please contact Nick at [email protected].

Mash-up Tournament Halloween Weekend

Our first tourney of the ’26/’27 season is fast approaching and it is one of our coolest formats for play. Register as an individual and show up at a scheduled time based on your current playing level. You play 3 games of doubles with 3 other players and your record determines how you advance. Play another 3 games of doubles with different players, and after that, if you keep placing top 2 in your group you play for another round! Play happens all weekend on Saturday the 31st and Sunday the 1st, so follow the link below to see the schedule for start times…

PB360 and DUPR

Now that we have most of our community migrated on to the PB360 app we are going to ask everyone to take a next step by connecting your account with your DUPR profile. The process for doing this is quite easy…

STEP 1: Launch PB360 app, or open app.pb360.me in your browser and login

STEP 2: Open the top-right menu and select “Profile”

STEP 3: Select the “Link DUPR” button

STEP 4: Enter your email and password for your DUPR account

STEP 5: Select the checkbox Allowing DUPR to create a new session blah, blah.

STEP 6: Select “Login”

STEP 7: Verify your DUPR login by checking your email and entering the 6 digit code

STEP 8: On the “Connect With DUPR screen choose “Authorize”

To be able to play in any of our events, or participate in our DUPR Days you will have to create this connection, so we appreciate you taking the time to do this now.

And Thank You!

We know that the adoption of a new technology, with all the associated login headaches and differences from past systems, is a royal PITA. Please trust us that the process will be worth it over time. PB360 is a proper club management platform that will allow us to deliver more services to you all, while allowing us to have more control over how we run our courts and interact with our community. We acknowledge the frustrations inherent in the new app, and have been working with the owner and the lead engineer of PB360 to work through the kinks in their system. They have already implemented many of our requests, while also fixing the performance issues we all initially experienced. We expect more changes ahead, with the goal of making the experience of booking Open Play more user-friendly. Your time and attention is valuable, so thank you for spending some of it on transitioning yourselves into the PB360 app.
